If sailor tales to sailor tunes,
Storm and adventure, heat and cold,
If schooners, islands, and maroons,
And buccaneers, and buried gold,
And all the old romance, retold
Exactly in the ancient way,
Can please, as me they pleased of old,
The wiser youngsters of today:
So be it, and fall on! If not,
If studious youth no longer crave,
His ancient appetites forgot,
Kingston, or Ballantyne the brave,
Or Cooper of the wood and wave:
So be it, also! And may I
And all my pirates share the grave
Where these and their creations lie!
Sailor Songs:

Kingston
W. H. G. Kingston wrote adventure novels for boys as well as translating Jules Verne.
Ballantyne the brave
Coconuts in The Coral Island are said to be soft and easy to open!
The Coral Island involves an adventure with pirates when one of the ship-wrecked boys is captured by a group of British pirates watering on their deserted isle. The book started a general trend of adventure books where boys were the main characters. So if you like Hardy Boys, you might want to thank Ballantyne.
Cooper
James Fenimore Cooper was yet another adventure writer, although he also wrote books on politics. Unlike the other two, Cooper made his characters adults. He is probably the best known of the three however, due to the popularity of his Leatherstocking Tales, particularly The Last of the Mohicans.
Here is a trailer of a version of The Last of the Mohicans, although it differs significantly from the book:
